Rich Franklin moves into dangerous waters
In a recent interview Rich Franklin talked about his move to the 205 weight class. For a guy that was dominant champion then dominated twice by the current champion he is in a tricky spot (UFC 64 Results and UFC 77 Results). Franklin said “So really, I’m stuck in a position of fighting guys who just lost their title shot to Anderson, and it leaves me in a position in the weight class where I don’t have a whole lot to look forward to other than my next fight.” With people that are this competitive it only makes sense that Franklin would want to get out of a weight class that haw a ceiling that doesn’t involve him as the title holder.

Brock Lesnar has just let everyone know that he doesn’t give a shit about Fedor. In the upcoming UFC 91: Couture vs. Lesnar, Brock is aiming to prove himself to the MMA world and is starting by running his mouth about “The Last Emperor.” Not a good start in my opinion.
“Who gives a shit about Fedor Emelianenko?” Lesnar started “I’m sick and tired of sitting on the phone listening about Fedor. Who f***ing gives a shit?”.

It has been announced that on November 15th, 2008, the 45 year old champ Randy “The Natural” Couture will return to the UFC. Although Couture has had previous problems with his contract with the UFC, the champ will return at UFC 91 to face the rising UFC star Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is coming off a recent win at UFC 87: Seek and Destroy over Heath Herring and is looking to prove himself to the MMA world. Couture is confident he will be able to pin point the holes in Lesnar’s game since he has already made the transition from wrestler to MMA fighter and Lesnar is currently making the transition himself. More details to come. Stay tuned for the UFC 91 Results.
The Rumors have been flying around that Randy Couture (16-8 MMA, 8-5 UFC) could make his return to the UFC. These rumors recently continue to build momentum. It was recently reported that preliminary negotiations have begun between the UFC and Couture that would have Couture return for UFC 91 on Nov. 15 in Portland, Oregon. Additionally, reports claim that Couture’s next fight would be the UFC 91 main event against Brock Lesnar (2-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC). Of course with rumors none of this can be proven at the time of this article and should be taken with a grain of salt, however, this has not stopped the world of MMA from continuing to discuss this topic as if it were a reality.
Couture is currently waiting out the end of his contract with the UFC, which ends on October 11th. Naturally, waiting out the end of his contract with the UFC would allow leverage for Couture to re-negotiate a new contract with the UFC that perhaps might be more lucrative for him. More money, less fights or open up some new challenges Couture would like to accomplish. This of course would, if true, place the fight with Brock Lesnar under this new contract. It has been over a year since we last saw Couture fight in the octagon.

Apprently Jon Koppenhaver is upset because some wrestling federation has named one of their fighters The War Machine Rhino and copyrighted the name, which means he can’t use it anymore as a nickname. For him, the next logical step was to legally change his name to War Machine…that showed them! Here’s the quote from his MySpace:
“SO in case you didn’t notice in my last fight the UFC did NOT use my nickname when I fought. Turns out some … wrestling federation threatened to sue them because they recently named one of their wrestlers The War Machine Rhino and trademarked the name.
Too (expletive) bad that I have been using this name for 6 years, have it tatted on my body and it is what my fans yell out when I’m fighting.
If you know my personality then you know (expletive) well I am not gonna let some (expletive) (expletive), FAKE wrestler steal MY name..
SO 6 weeks ago I filed a change of name request and today I had court to make my name officially WAR MACHINE.
Lol
(expletive) funny right? Didn’t really wanna have to do it but I am sure as hell not lose MY nickname.
Time for a nap.
WM”
I would have just changed my nickname.

Back in April 2007, Karo Parisyan faced an opponent more menacing than any that would ever step foot inside the octagon. So menacing in fact that Karo Parisyan might not have set foot inside the octagon that night. History shows us that on this night Karo Parisyan would suffer his first technical knockout of his career, but what we didn’t know until recently, was that Karo Parisyan was suffering from panic attacks.
According to the American Psychological Association, one out of every seventy-five people suffer from this disorder. So Karo Parisyan was not alone with his experiences from this disorder. The symptoms of a panic attack commonly last approximately thirty minutes. However, panic attacks can also be as short as fifteen minutes, while sometimes panic attacks may form a series of episodes, lasting for an extended period, sometimes even hours.
Panic attacks affect people differently. Those that experience these episodes frequently may be able to completely endure a panic attack with little to no obvious symptoms or external signs. Others, notably first-time sufferers, may call for emergency services; many that experience a panic attack for the first time fear they are having a heart attack or a nervous breakdown. Shortness of breath is a common symptom.
On the night of his first technical knockout loss, Karo told a close friend he suddenly wanted to go home instead of enter the octagon against his opponent for the night. He would eventually put his uneasiness aside and fight that night, but he was clearly not the same fighter we were used to seeing in the octagon. He would only make it to the second round of the fight before the fight was stopped, thus giving Karo his first technical knockout loss of his career.
Karo didn’t know at the time what exactly was wrong with him, but he knew it wasn’t normal. He would eventually see a doctor about his condition as it continued. Five months later Karo has made small strides to combat this sudden condition with help from his doctors. The question still remains though, is Karo Parisyan ready to enter the octagon for his upcoming fight against Yoshiyuki Yoshida? The two will battle at UFC 88 on Sept. 6 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
If Karo is not fully recovered from this condition, can he hold it back or work through it enough to be himself before and during the fight; thus allowing him to continue his career as a UFC fighter while he works through this ordeal or will he suffer another loss whether technical or total; forcing him out of the business temporarily or permanent? Time will tell and the world will be watching.
