UFC Results (Video) – Mirko Cro Cop is back, watch out Cheick Congo

July 16th, 2007 | 1 Comment »

Mirko Cro Cop, who suffered a horrible KO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 70, is ready to fight. He is going to face Cheick Congo of France. This is going to be a great fight since both of these fighters are kick boxers that love to strike.

A great thing about Mirko Cro Cop is his humility. He is a very confident fighter, and initially said he didn’t need to train in an octagon, but since his loss to Gonzaga he has installed a cage and is training with it. That change in training shows that he can admit when he is wrong and is willing to change to make up for his past mistakes. Gabriel Gonzaga soundly beat Cro Cop but the next time they face off against each other Mirko will be a different fighter.

The fact that Mirko Cro Cop is going to be a new fighter poses a large problem for Cheick Congo. In MMA, Cro Cop doesn’t lose back to back. In 2005 Cro Cop lost a decision to Fedor Emelianenko but won his next fight against Josh Barnett. Those are two enormously talented fighters in back to back fights, most fighters would have taken a “get back on your feet fight”, but Cro Cop came out against one of the best and won. Cheick Congo isn’t one of the best MMA fighters in the UFC but he is a very good kick boxer. So this will be a very good come back fight and a defining challenge for Cro Cop. In addition, the internet rumor mill churned up that Cro Cop is apparently asking for a rematch against Noguiera. That would be an amazing fight and is a testament to Cro Cop’s will as a fighter to fight the best and be the best.

Cro Cop’s upcoming fight is going to be huge and if you are fight fan you better start getting pumped now because I think a Frenchman is going to be on the receiving end of a left high kick to the face. Watch for Cro Cop in September at UFC 75 on Spike TV; it’s going to be free!

Here is a clip of Cro Cop against Nogueira. Great fight, I really hope to see a rematch!

UFC Video: Jens Pulver gets knocked out of the ring by Duane Ludwig.

Watch this Jens Pulver video on Youtube.

Here is another video installment to get people excited for this Saturday when BJ Penn and Jens Pulver face off at the the Ultimate Fighter 5 finale. Theufcresults.com thinks BJ Penn is going to beat Jens Pulver decisively. This is a video of Jens Pulver fighting Duane Ludwig who is purely a striker, the outcome wasn’t good for Pulver. If you didn’t see the BJ Penn video we posted recently where BJ Penn destroys a Judo black belt, watch it, and then keep in mind that BJ Penn sent Georges St. Pierre to the hospital after their fight. St. Pierre is a world class striker, Jens Pulver not so much, but it is his strength. So if Pulver couldn’t handle a pure striker how is he going to deal with BJ Penn who can knock Pulver out just as easy as he can submit him?

Video: UFC 72 Fighter, Tyson Griffin, knocks out current WEC feather weight champ Urijah Faber.

Watch Tyson Griffin knock out Urijah Faber.

Here is a video of UFC fighter Tyson Griffin knocking out current WEC feather weight champ Urijah Faber. This is a display of how quick and explosive of a fighter Griffin is. I wrote an article on why UFC 72 is worth the money, and Tyson Griffin’s fight was one of those reasons. This video backs up my article with this impressive display of Griffin delivering Urijah Faber’s only loss. Look forward to UFC 72 and the fight between Tyson Griffin and Clay Guida.

UFC 71 Results – Keith Jardine vs. Houston Alexander

Keith Jardine

After some initial taunting and a jarring hook that put Houston Alexander on the mat Keith Jardine was humiliated by Houston Alexander’s relentless punches and knees to Jardine’s face. Keith Jardine came into this fight hot off of a win against Forrest Griffin and brimming with confidence. He was so confident that he made mocking gestures at the UFC newcomer, Houston Alexander, during the beginning of the fight. In retrospect I think Jardine is kicking himself for those actions and his poor mentality during this fight.

In the prefight interviews Jardine was upset that he was having to fight a previously unknown fighter like Alexander, he felt that he should be fighting a real contender. Contender or not as a fighter it is your job to win, and if you want to fight for the title then beat the fighter that stands in front of you. Despite rumors of the UFC having a hard time finding a fighter for Jardine, this fight was a test to see if Jardine was going to live up to his performance against Griffin and emerge as a real contender. Real champions don’t complain about who they compete against; they take the challenge before them and prove themselves, but Jardine let his ego take hold of him and he was literally crumbled at the hands of Houston Alexander, and showed that Jardine isn’t worthy yet of a title shot.

Houston’s dismantling of Jardine has validated him as a fighter and made him an instant mini-UFC star. His next fight will really define him. Alexander will have to step up big time and have another impressive showing and not let himself get intoxicated on confidence like Jardine did. I know that I now look forward to Houston Alexander’s next fight and have lost respect for Jardine and will be indifferent to his fights until he can prove himself to have a better attitude.
