Here is another video installment to get people excited for this Saturday when BJ Penn and Jens Pulver face off at the the Ultimate Fighter 5 finale. Theufcresults.com thinks BJ Penn is going to beat Jens Pulver decisively. This is a video of Jens Pulver fighting Duane Ludwig who is purely a striker, the outcome wasn’t good for Pulver. If you didn’t see the BJ Penn video we posted recently where BJ Penn destroys a Judo black belt, watch it, and then keep in mind that BJ Penn sent Georges St. Pierre to the hospital after their fight. St. Pierre is a world class striker, Jens Pulver not so much, but it is his strength. So if Pulver couldn’t handle a pure striker how is he going to deal with BJ Penn who can knock Pulver out just as easy as he can submit him?
Here is a little treat. This is a video of BJ Penn competing as a Judo white belt against a Judo black belt in competition. BJ Penn puts on a clinic and destroys his opponent. This video demonstrates how dangerous BJ Penn can be and he isn’t even striking. Jens Pulver has his hands full this coming Saturday, it’s going to be an awesome fight.
The first round starts and Gray is trying to take Nate down with his superior wrestling. Nate goes to the mat but almost catches Maynard in an arm lock. Gray narrowly escapes and then lands some major blows in transition opening up a cut on Diaz’s face. Both fighters are really active. Maynard keeps throwing huge bombs and Nate tries to use his excellent Jiu Jitsu to catch Maynard in a quick submission. The fight continues at a blazing pace with Maynard dropping bombs and Diaz almost catching Gray in submission after submission. The rounds comes to end and Diaz is bleeding badly.
Despite the heavy punches Nate took in the last round he came out looking the aggressor. Maynard returned with some heavy punches and locked up Diaz. Nate is dragged to the ground and Maynard almost slithers into a mount. Before he can sink in on top Diaz sneaks his knees up and rolls Maynard. Diaz gets on top and starts raining down punches. Gray covers a bit and attempts to get to his feet but Diaz capitalizes and gets Maynard into a guillotine to end the fight and take the win.
Who we want to win: Joe Lauzon Who we think we will win: Manny Gamburyan
Joe Lauzon has been the most impressive looking fighter during the show. His pace of fighting hasn’t slowed since his fight against Jens Pulver. Manny is a tough aggressive fighter, but is small. Matt Wiman didn’t take advantage of size in his fight against Gamburyan because he was too timid. Joe Lauzon will overpower Gamburyan and smother his fire.
Who we want to win: Undecided
Who we think we will win: Nate Diaz
I really like both of these fighters. I love Nick Diaz and think his brother is a smaller version. I love his fierce attitude and his confidence and his ability to back it all up. Gray is awesome but his last performance wasn’t very impressive. I think he can come back strong as long as he didn’t over train again. He has the ability to beat Diaz, it is just a matter of him coming into the fight with his strongest performance.
In the first round Manny came out on fire. Matt Wiman made attempt after attempt to take Manny down but was thwarted. Then surprisingly Manny started to take Wiman down and dominate. While in the mix Wiman got a cut near his eye. Luckily it was on the side and didn’t affect his vision. The round ended with Manny dominating Wiman and proving that his heart can overcome his size.
The second round started the same way the first ended. Manny got quick take down and burned half the round before Herb Dean made them stand up. Wiman landed a good punch and then made a weak attempt at a take down. In the process of being taken down Manny almost got Wiman in an arm lock, but Wiman came out of it on his back and almost got him in a rear naked choke, but Manny squirmed out of it and nearly landed in an arm bar. Wiman lost it and Manny finished the round pounding Wiman. After the round was over Manny won by a unanimous decision.
