Akihiro Gono’s Epic Octagon Entrance at UFC 94

February 3rd, 2009 | No Comments »

Akihiro Gono was on the undercard at UFC 94 for his fight versus John Fitch, which he lost by decision. Before his loss, he entered the octagon in full drag with two of his cornermen and danced all the way to the cage. For a guy dressed in drag, I think he put up a better fight than anyone expected. I hope to see him again soon, I like the occasional fighter that doesn’t think he has to act badass in front of anyone.

UFC 94 Fighter Bonuses and Awards

On a night where eight out of the ten fights ended in a judges decision, one knockout and zero submissions, the UFC was generous enough to give two Fight of the Night awards and one for knockout of the night. Dana White was generous enough to give out a few of his toilet paper rolls to the fights he deemed worthy.

Each fighter listed below received a $65k bonus:

UFC 94 Results

Tomorrow is going to be a historic night. Two top echelon fighters will step into the octagon to fight for the UFC welterweight title. Hawaiian native BJ Penn will be stepping up a weight class to hopefully hold the belt in two divisions, while GSP wants to send Penn back down to his weight class empty handed.

The night also holds the fight between Thiago Alves and Lyoto Machida, both undefeated and both top contenders in the light heavyweight division. In a developing story, Karo Parisyan has not been cleared by the medical staff to fight yet because of his panic attacks. He is still the probable fighter, but the UFC has brought Rick Story as a backup just in case.

Main Fight Card (Pay Per View)

170: Georges St-Pierre (c) (170) vs. BJ Penn (168) – UFC Welterweight Championship

205: Lyoto Machida (206) vs. Thiago Silva (206)
