Two undefeated and dominant fighters are going to touch gloves on May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Rashad Evans brings his big mouth with a belt and record to back it up, and Machida will come in with his cool demeanor looking to put his shin on Rashad’s chin. Both Machida and Evans have been known to frustrate their opponents and then over take them. It is going to be very interesting and exciting to see what happens when they meet each other, who is going to have the edge?
Also, we are going to get to see the return of Matt Hughes. It would reasonable to expect that this could be his last fight and what a better one to go out on then a feud match between him and Matt Serra. It doesn’t seem likely that Serra will take out Hughes but then again, who would have picked Matt Serra over Georges St. Pierre?

WOW…THIS should be a KILLER fight. Either one more than deserving of a the belt. Any early picks? TALK PEOPLE TALK lol.
Everyone is talking about Lyoto Machida how elusive he is and how fast his hands are.
But I think Rashad Evans is no Pusher over he has a record of 18-0-1 he beat the heck out of Chuck and Forrest I think he is a legitimate guy to have the belt.
If I have to put my money on the line it will be on Lyoto. Just for no reason, Ok I think he is faster after beating Thiago Silva in the first round it proves a lot. Rashad keeps saying he is faster and better on ground game well only gay guys talks and winners walks. We’ll see.
I am picking Machida. I could be totally wrong, but he has frustrated every fighter he has come against. Rashad’s showmanship is not going to distract Machida so this could be trouble for Rashad. Either way it’s going to be a monumental fight!
well beating chuck of late is unfortunately not too hard, he’s done unless he can re-develop a good chin. I’ve seen Thiago get rocked a li’l too, he just usually overcomes it. Dunno all about that gay comment cuz both these guys so far have 0 losses. Hell could be a draw & still have 0 losses if Lyoto plays freeze tag, Evans is always on the advance but neither one ever commits to a real attack mode…….who knows?
I know its old news but I just saw the Evans/Liddel fight on Unleashed for the 1st time. Dude that was SICK…sounded like someone hitting a side of beef w/ a baseball bat lol.
I really enjoy the UFC but my only complaint is how they fight the top guys too often and the pay is not market based. This is why they wont be able to surpass Boxing. If you are the champ in such a brutal sport then you should not have to fight but every 20 months. If you have one bad night its over for you, then you got to take what ever they offer you until you make it back to the top. If you are a big name guy like chuck liddel you get paid win, loose or draw, but the new guys like Evans wont be paid nearly the same sort of money, whats up with that? look at Silva! now they want to sweat him because the other guys dont want to mix it up, so if he goes in and looses because he was wreckless then he falls to the bottom and none of the top guys will want to fight him, he is damed if he does and damn if he dont. Can anyone tell me how much those guys get per fight, is it anywhere near the 12 – 25 million that Floyd Mayweather will get for his next fight?
I think the day will come where MMA fighters are paid top dollar, but like CAPman said, it’s a young sport compared to boxing, it’s day will come, and probably sooner than it did for boxing.
Dear Andre,
1st of all, compare the length of time boxing has been around as opposed to MMA. 2nd–compare the strength of sponsors. Notice the sponsors pasted all over the ring & on the guys shorts, etc. Ever seen ANY of them anywhere else? 3rd–Keep in mind a LOT of sports columnists are quite hypocritical. They like slobber-knocker hits in football, going to fights & seeing a hockey game break out & drooooled over Tyson when he was in his prime, etc.- but they wont accept MMA as a sport yet. Also compare Dana White w/ the likes of a Don King. IE—a LOT of MMA is on basic TV & even a lot of the PPV champ fights are on TV not long after the event. Whens the last time you saw a PPV boxing match come on TV? Lots of other intangibles come into play but these are some of the most obvious. Keep supporting MMA. These guys luv what they do & the longer support lasts the better their pay will become.
Predictions, predictions, predictions…..lol.
1st Fight–Kaplan is yet to impress me in the slightest. Should be a standup fight & unless Kaplan has learned NOT to lead w/ his chin, 2nd round KO. Regardless, I dont see Kaplan winning.
2nd FIGHT–Is it possible Yoshida wasnt traumatized by his last fight? lol. Wolff is no Kos tho. Yoshida, maybe 1st round sub but Yoshi nonetheless.
3rd FIGHT–UFC.com has Krzysztof Soszynski V Gusmao. I picked against ‘K’ last time but Stann is as 1-dimensional as they come…my bad for not remembering him from WEC. Tough one. I will go w/ K by decision.
4th Fight–…….fight? Kyle did you make Dana White mad or something? lol. I foresee brutality in this one. Run Kyle run. Nover by KO most likely early.
Its late. I got all week. TBC later
5th FIGHT–Barry is undefeated but short for his weight. I cant place where, but Hague rings a bell & seems well-rounded & much bigger w/ twice the fights. I’ll go w/ Hague by sub either very early or very late (watch be middle of 2nd round lol)
6th FIGHT–I remember Larson from WEC. Dude is an animal if you dont thump him quick. I dont see where Wilson has the ability to thump anyone quick but he did go to decision w/ Fitch. I dont see him winning tho. Larson by Dec.
7th FIGHT—WOW…..this could totally be a headliner anywhere outside the UFC & even IN the UFC maybe not a PPV one tho. Geez. Man. I am going to say Edgar eeeks out a split D.
8th FIGHT–Sonnen V Miller. I think Sonnen is actually a pretty decent fighter. Loses to really good fighters. Miller may be a young ‘really good’ fighter. I think I’ll go w/ Miller. 2nd rnd KO or sub.
Ok, 3 more left. Note–McFedries has never really impressed me too much but I gotta check up on the X man. God bless & BBL.
Next to last ’sub’fight–McFedries V. X-man
I dont think X will decide to trade w/ Fed. If he does it will be interesting. If X is smart(& I think he is) he goes ground & ends it in 1st round.
Semi-main event: Hughes V Serra–I think probably Hughes’ last fight & I think he goes out w/ a bang. Not really a fight. Serra always stands a punchers chance but not if he’s not upright. Hughes, 2nd round.
MAIN EVENT!!!…..later lol
Ready for insanity? lol. Evans has SEVERAL very hi-ranked opps…Machida has a couple. Evans is elusive & quick. Machida is a very disciplined awkwardness. The only common opp. is Tito….its hard to explain why, but its hard to compare those fights to each other & get anything much to go on. The ‘X’ Factor here is that Rashad has been clipped a few times. Best I know, Machida has never had his chin tested. I dont think stamina will be a factor for either of them. Anyway….prediction…..I cant see Lyoto avoiding Evans for a full 5 rounds. Evans….ref stoppage/TKO/KO.
I’m taking Machida here all the way. But, I think that this fight will end in a descision.
