Here are some of my life changing UFC 95 predictions. Some changes may be for the better, others may not. I’m just saying you shouldn’t bet your house on it.
Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson
Diego Sanchez is dropping this much weight for the first time to fight in the lightweight category putting his cardio in question with everyone. That being said, I also think if anyone can cut that much and not be affected, it’s the always hard working Diego Sanchez. Since his two losses in the Octagon his work ethic is even better than it was before. He seems to have realized life isn’t always a party and this is his career. His striking is getting better everytime we see him, which means bad things for Stevenson.
In my opinion Diego’s wrestling and striking is better than Stevenson’s, which leaves the ground as being in question as Stevenson currently holds a black belt in BJJ. Sanchez though, has been training with legends of BJJ Saulo Ribeiro and also BJJ practitioner of the year (GracieMag) Xande Ribeiro. He currently holds a purple belt under the two and is constantly training with and without the gi. To be honest, I don’t think Joe Stevenson’s black belt can match up to Diego’s Ribeiro purple belt combined with the tradmark “Nightmare” explosiveness.
Sanchez via Sub (Round 2)
Nate Marquardt vs. Wilson Gouveia
Look for Gouveia to lose steam toward the middle of the second round due to past troubles and also the relentless pace Marquardt likes to push. I think it will be fairly even in the first round, but slowly cardio will play more of a factor and Marquardt will capitalize.
Marquardt via TKO (Round 3)
Dan Hardy vs. Rory Markham
This looks like a fairly even fight, two guys who like to brawl and who also like Cosmopolitans. Trust me, they do. I see this fight being a bloody mess with the octagon scattered with ears and noses laying all over the mat. Then it will end with Hardy wearing a cape.
Hardy via unanimous
Demian Maia vs. Chael Sonnen
Oh Demian Maia, you have won my heart. The precision of your jiu jitsu is amazing to watch. Four straight fights in a row Maia has won via sub in the UFC, most recently against Nate Quarry. Maia is going to have to dance around Sonnen’s flurrys of aggressive strikes until he slows down. Maia’s standup can’t match with Sonnen. He will have to make the clean takedown, pass the guard, mount, then take the back and secure the RNC. Just like that. Textbook. Do it.
Maia via sub (Round 3)
Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago
Josh Koscheck is going to punch Paulo Thiago’s face clean off into the crowd. First round.
Koscheck via decapitation (Round 1)

*1st FIGHT–I like ‘Daddy’ but sorry, this might not be a fight…Diego all the way.
*2nd FIGHT–maybe a barnburner but Gouveia always seems to pull it off.
*3rd FIGHT–Can you say upset? Notsomuch lol. Pickin Maia.
*4th FIGHT–Wow. Maybe another barnburner unless he can keep Kos grounded. Tuff one. Goin w/ Kos.
*5th FIGHT–Dunno, gettin into unknown territory w/ these next fights but I’ll pick Etim.
*6th FIGHT–Waitwhat? 6′11″ w/ a 20-2 record? Sheeeesh. If he can take a punch someone needs to spend some time training him. Think I’ll pick Struve lol.
*7th FIGHT–More heavys, sweet. Mike C looks kinda like the mummy in mummy2 cept w/ beard n stache. Dont matter-still pickin Grove.
*8th FIGHT–Dunham is undefeated. Some reason I wanna pick Eklund.
*9th FIGHT–Kelly on feet, Mandaloniz on ground. What I cant do that? lol. Ummm…Kellys tuff, I’ll go w/ him.
In my opinion this is a cop out for the great BJ Penn who can’t cope with his almighty ego after he got his butt kicked in EVERY way possible. Yes, he is a great fighter but natural talent can only get you so far. Maybe if he would have taken this fight a little more seriously and trained like he was expected to do, he woulld have had a better showing. He still would have lost, GSP is just a far more superior fighter in all aspects. A classy fighter would deal with the loss, learn from it and move on, not make excuses. BJ was one of my favorite MMA fighters before this fight, but I have lost a lot of respect for him since then.
BJ Penn? lol- this is UFC 95 forum. My predictions SUCKED lol. Even Kos got thumped, I mean who figured on that? Hell I kept waitin on ‘Daddy’ to rattle Diego for the icing on the cake lol. Anyway–if BJ had ANY class, he wouldnt have bogarted the attention INSIDE the octagon (of all things) after GSP had just had a good fight. Only a moron would train half-ass against a true talent like GSP. NEway, on to UFC 96 Forum-Rampage vs Jardene. See you there!
