You may remember Denis Kang (31-11-1) from his UFC 93 fight with Alan Belcher, in which he dominated the fight completely before executing a sloppy takedown just to be guillotined to end the fight. You may also know him from Pride, where he defeated UFC fighter Akihiro Gono and also holds a 15 second knockout victory Murilo “Ninja” Rua. Either way, you know this dude can fight.
He has lost four out of his last seven fights, a devastating streak for the man once considered to be one of the major threats to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.
These consecutive losses put him very low of a very tall ladder to a title shot. The first rung will be Xavier Foupa-Pokum (20-9) at UFC 97 at The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on April 18th.
Foupa-Pokum is on a six-fight winning streak. He has lost only one fight in the past 12 attempts – a submission loss to Murilo “Ninja” Rua, the same man Denis Kang KO’d in 15 seconds.
So far the fight card for UFC 97 is shaping up like this:

Anderson Silva (23-4) vs. Thales Leites (13-1)
Chuck Liddell (21-6) vs. Mauricio Rua (17-3)
