BJ Penn at UFC 94 After Georges St. Pierre Fight

Since UFC 94 there has been a looming controversy over Georges St. Pierre intentionally having Vaseline on his back to help avoid the takedowns of BJ Penn. Today, the legal team for BJ Penn officially sent a formal request to investigate Georges St. Pierre at UFC 94 to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

They will be examining the UFC’s film from the fights to check out the happenings of GSP before and during the bout.

St. Pierre previously stated that it was an honest mistake by his cornermen and was caused by the in-between round craziness.

The request by Penn’s lawyer describes the incident as potentially “life-threatening” and “career ending.” As BJ Penn is a BJJ specialist, it hinders his ability to control his opponent and apply his techniques.

The letter also states that Penn’s camp asked the NSAC before the fight to keep an eye on GSP’s corner for any evidence of him greasing up.

Numerous videos have surfaced on the internet of Phil Nurse rubbing GSP’s shoulders and back without wiping the vaseline off of his hands before doing so. This could really hinder GSP’s reputation as he is viewed as a humble, honest fighter.

But as Dana White said, it could very well just be the product of stupid cornermen (Phil Nurse and Greg Jackson).
