On a night where eight out of the ten fights ended in a judges decision, one knockout and zero submissions, the UFC was generous enough to give two Fight of the Night awards and one for knockout of the night. Dana White was generous enough to give out a few of his toilet paper rolls to the fights he deemed worthy.
Each fighter listed below received a $65k bonus:
Knockout of the Night – Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida for his KO over Thiago Silva
Submission of the Night – N/A (No fights ended via Sub)
Fight of the Night – John Howard vs. Chris Wilson and Clay Guida vs. Nate Diaz
The fighters received the $65k on top of the salaries they already earned from their contract. This is a huge bonus in the struggling economy, especially for guys like John Howard who only earned $6,000 for his fight in the first place.
Both of the fights of the night ended by decision. Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva both came into the fight undefeated, Machida ended the fight with a brutal knockout.
