As reported earlier, Hermes Franca sustained a knee injury and was forced to drop off of the UFC Fight Night 17 fight card scheduled for February 7th.
The new update is that Franca will now be replaced by Jeremy “Uppercut Your Face Off” Stephens, who was originally scheduled to fight at UFC Fight Night 18 versus TUF 8 winner Efrain Escudero. That’s not Stephens nickname, but maybe it should be.
Stephens is coming off of a devastating knockout victory over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 91 “Lesnar vs. Couture” that scored him the award for “Knockout of the Night.” That knockout only appeared to be awesome for Stephens, and not so much for dos Anjos.
Joe Lauzon will be coming off of his round 2 TKO victory over Kyle Bradley at UFC Fight Night 15, and will be looking to extend his winning streak in the Octagon and increase his record to 5-1 in the UFC.
