Mike Swick is one of the top welterweight contenders in the UFC, second to Thiago Alves in line for a title shot.

This title shot may not come soon though. At the upcoming UFC 94 event, BJ Penn will be stepping up to the welterweight division to fight Georges St. Pierre in hopes to hold belts in two separate weight classes.

If GSP defeates Penn, the next fight for him would be versus the current #1 contender Thiago “The Pitbull” Alves. Alves (16-3), has 7 straight wins in the welterweight division and is deserving a shot at the dominating GSP. But what will happen if BJ Penn wins?

Should BJ Penn defeat GSP and hold titles in both divisions, he will most likely be defending his lightweight title next. This happening, the two contenders for the lightweight title may eventually be scheduled to fight eachother to stay busy in the downtime between UFC 94 and BJ Penn coming back up to defend his welterweight title.

MMA is so unpredictable, anything can happen at UFC 94. We’ll have to wait and see.
