As always, after a UFC event the fighters of the night are given awards if they put on a good show for the fans. This time instead of the $60,000 that each fighter took home at UFC 92, they each received $40,000. That may be enough to pay the entourage the fighters had to fly to Dublin, eh?
Here are the awards given:
Knockout of the Night – Dennis Siver
Submission of the Night — Alan “The Talent” Belcher
Fight of the Night (2) — Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis vs. Chris “Lights Out” Lytle and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Mark “The Hammer” Coleman
Dennis Siver was rewarded knockout of the night for his win over Nate Mohr with a brutal kick to the liver, and then some more punches that caused the ref to stop the fight.
Submission of the night was an easy choice for the UFC.
There was only one submission victory.
It was given to Alan Belcher after he caught Denis Kang at the end of the second round with a guillotine.
Chris Lytle and Marcus Davis both came out fighting hard, just like they promised. They even said they would put on the fight of the night, and they both delivered well. $40k for each.
Oddly there were two fights of the night… the second was given to Mark Coleman and Shogun Rua who fought back and forth for three cardio intensive rounds before Shogun finished the fight at the end of the third round by TKO.
