Ultimate Fighter Finale Main Card Results
The rest of the card will have some of the other fighters from the show display the skills they have developed since the show.
Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason MacDonald
Wilson Gouveia comes into the fight 11-5. Holding a BJJ black belt from [does anyone know?]. He since has been training with American Top Team, who of course has the legendary best pound for pound BJJ competitor Marcelo Garcia training with him. There is no telling how his jiu jitsu may have advanced since then.
Jason MacDonald takes the fight on short notice. Has lost to Demian Maia in the past while being dominated by his jiu jitsu, I see this fight leaning toward Gouveia.
Goueveia does not make weight, submits 20% of his purse to MacDonald.
MacDonald comes out and takes Gouveia down, moving right into his game. Gouveia stands.
Close to 3 minutes in Gouveia drops MacDonald with a straight left.
Wilson Gouveia def. Jason MacDonald via Sub (strikes) 2:15 – Round 1
Kevin Burns vs. Anthony Johnson
These two have fought before, the first ended in a controversial victory by Burns. Johnson is talking a little bit of trash in the pre-fight interviews, sounds like it can be an interesting fight.
Johnson is using his reach to his advantage well. Johnson takes down Burns. Burns establishes the overhook in guard and tries to climb his guard up. Johnson shucks the legs and passes to side control.
Kevin Burns secures a reverse triangle, a very hard submission to finish. Johnson escapes and comes back to full guard. Johnson is not making an effort to pass and Burns is not being active, both guys get stood up. Both guys throwing very hard haymakers at the end of round 1.
Johnson is trying to pass half guard and Burns secures his hands in a Kimura, cannot finish. Burns puts Johnson back in full guard. Johnson is throwing some good elbows from the top. Kevin Burns jiu jitsu seems to be lacking hip movement, he is defending while throwing the occasional elbow. Meanwhile Johnson’s jiu jitsu lacks pressure from the top while passing, could use a couple private lessons from guys like Saulo and Xande Ribeiro or Rickson Gracie.
Round 3 Anthony Johnson comes out throwing some great strikes. Mean head kick drops Burns to the mat, out cold.
Anthony Johnson def. Ryan Burns via KO (Head Kick) :28 – Round 3
Junie Browning vs. Dave Kaplan
Junie Browning comes into the fight looking like a completely different fighter. Loses a rear naked choke in the first round showing his lack of experience still. Looks a lot better as a fighter from Xtreme Couture, great victory, even if I hate the guy.
Junie Browning def. Dave Kaplan via (Sub) 1:32 Round 2

Krzysztof Soszynski def. Shane Primm by Submission (Kimura) – 3:27 Round 2
Jules Bruchez vs. Eliot Marshall
Eliot Marshall came out very strong, throwing sharp combos to Bruchez. An easy take down for Marshall. Marshall passes to full mount, Bruchez gives up his back to avoid the bombs being dropped by Marshall. RNC sank, game over.
Eliot Marshall def. Jules Bruchez by Submission (RNC) – 1:27 Round 1
Kyle Kingsbury vs. Tom Lawlor
Tom Lawlor def. Kyle Kingsbury by Unanimous Decision
Shane Nelson vs. George Roop
Shane Nelson def. George Roop by Split Decision
