Fight for the Troops Ends Full of Injuries

Koscheck vs. Yoshida Knockout Photo

After a great night of fights one could not help but notice the large amount of injuries sustained in the Octagon last night. There were brutal knockouts and vicious submissions that had the average viewer confused if they should be cringing or cheering.

Josh Koscheck vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

After Josh Koscheck’s knockout to Yoshiyuki Yoshida, the japanese fighter had to be taken to the hospital for medical attention. As if the first punch wasn’t enough when Yoshida appeared to be knocked out standing up, Koscheck delivered another right hand that sealed the deal. Here is the Fight for the Troops results if you haven’t caught them yet. The rest of the injuries are continued after the fold.

Goulet Taken for Brain Scan

According to SportsLine.com Jonathan Goulet may have suffered from more than just a loss to Mike Swick. According to Goulet’s manager, he was taken to the hospital for a brain scan after the fight, and also may have suffered from a torn MCL.

Corey Hill Out for Surgery – May Take 18 Months

When the fight was abruptly stopped, medical officials rushed to Corey Hill to tend to the fallen fighter. As it turns out he suffered a broken tibia and will be out from 12-18 months before he can train again.

Razak Al-Hassan Has Never Heard of Tap or Snap

First of all he has an impressive afro, which was so kindly pointed out by Joe Rogan. Unfortunately an afro adds zero padding to limbs when they are in a locked armbar. It can be debated that he should have been in the octagon with WEC champ Steve Cantwell, but what can’t be debated is that Razak Al-Hassan let pride get in the way and didn’t tap. Also referee Steve Mazagatti, being the experienced ref he is, should have stopped this long before the arm snapped when the fighters well being is obviously in danger. There is no telling if we will see Al-Hassan again, but if we do we can expect it to be a while from now.

Hopefully the Ultimate Fighter Finale fight card will hold less injuries. Check back here for the Ultimate Fighter Finale results after the fights.
