I don’t even see how that’s possible. Yeah, BJ is a killer, but any black belt in any discipline should be able to destroy a white belt. This is some twilight-zone shit.

yes! a colored belt makes you a ninja warrior capable of defeating all opponents with lighter colored belts than you.

i have a black belt in taibo and i can kick your ass any day.

BJ Penn was a BJJ brown belt in this. Not a BJJ white belt. He was a JUDO white belt because he doesn’t train Judo. Also they are using BJJ rules. In Judo, when a guy goes to his stomach, both guys stand up and start over. ANY BJJ brown belt will beat ANY Judo black belt if they aren’t competing under Judo rules. This goes for real fights in my opinion as well. Judo, by itself, is only good when competing in Judo.

    Thanks for that insight!

Im a big fan of BJ Penn and all but i didnt see that much Judo in there. To me it looked like a wrestling match. I know Judo is part submissions but, Penn was just doing submissions and takedowns. There was the almost throw in the middle, and the trip at the end was just that he picked the black belt up and triped him. Not much Judo if you ask me

That was an illegal take down in the beginning and was poorly reffed, he was an idiot. Then the judoka dropped BJ on his head and should have been disqualified. There were so many times BJ should have been penalized and the ref did nothing. Als I think the second black belt should have been disqualified for slamming BJ He did have a great take down at the end and clearly is very good at BJJ. However this is a sport and not street fighting or MMA or BJJ and is conducted differently as was severly mishandled by the judges and ref. I would like to see BJ fight in a proper tournament, not that I don’t think he wouldn’t do well there if he learned the rules better.

Bogus. I have trained both and along with boxing, I find the Judo to be superior when taken to the highest level. If you want to comapre the two it is absolutely necessary to view a traditional Judo vs Jui Jitsu.

It takes a much longer amount of time to perfect Judo than Jui Jitsu and if you watch world class competitors at the highest level, usually Judo wins.

  10. Alex Says:

thats why they had the Budo Challenge so judo could compete vs jiu jitsu, I dont remember many judo people winning at all
